Setting up Timeshock Ultra(steam)

Note: Make sure you have Timeshock in cabinet mode setup before proceeding to installation into PinUp Popper. Cabinet mode can be a little tricky at first until you get used to it if you haven't used it yet and this is just a step by step guide to get it running with pindmdv3 (possibly others) using Freezy's dmdext x64 (will not work with 32bit version)

If you have a Virtual DMD you can follow these instructions from Step 3.
If you have everything working and just want to install into popper proceed
to step 4.

Step 1: Download Freezy's dmdext 1.7.1 x64 from here:
https://github.com/freezy/dmd-extensions/releases

Step 2: Extract the contents of dmdext 1.7.1 x64 into your ProPinball Timeshock Ultra folder ex: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\ Pro Pinball Ultra. All those dmdext files aren't used but I went ahead and extracted them to the directory anyway.

Note: you may have a different setup then mine and need to install it into a different directory as long as its in the Pro Pinball Ultra folder.

Step 3: Now we need to go into Steam:
Load up steam and click on your games library, from that library right click on ProPinball Ultra, click on properties. A box will popup with 4 tabs. Under the general tab you should see a clickable “Set Launch Options” box, click on this.
We are going to direct Timeshock how to load up your pindmdv3.
Type in: m3 dProPinballSlave q

Note: If are using 2 sound cards one for Music and Callouts and one for Mechanical Sounds add this to your “Launch Options” m3 dProPinballSlave q sb0 sp1
sb0=default sound card
sb1=secondary sound card (you may need to flip flop these
depending on your setup)

Note: m3= 3 monitors and even though you may have a two monitor setup(playfield and backglass)this is the only version I could get to work correctly for my setup of 2 monitors and a real dmd.
Also if you are following this and use a virtualdmd you can follow step 3 but only put “m3 q” or “m2 q” into “Set Launch Otions” depending on your setup. The other part is calling for the PropinballSlave batch file from Freezy's download and that file is what calls to mirror the dmd.

When you have completed this step fire up timeshock and make sure your dmd is
working with it now.

Moving on to installation into PinUp Popper:

Step 4: Navigate to your PinUp System Directory ex: C:\PinUPSystem, click on “pinupmenusetup.exe”, click on “Popper Setup tab”, click on “Emulators”.
Click the blue next “>” button at the bottom of the “General” tab until you get to PC games if you still have that as a default emulator.

Note: you can create a new emulator by clicking the “+” button at the bottom of the screen.
I chose to use PC Games cause it was halfway setup.

Under the “General” tab of emulators I changed the “Emulator Display Name” to Timeshock

You then need to change the “Launch EXE” folder here to where your steam exe folder is ex. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam and then change your “Games Folder” to the directory of the timeshock folder in steam ex. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Pro Pinball Ultra.

Tick the box “Emulator Active in System” on the “General” tab of the emulator setup. To save these settings click on the green checkmark at the bottom of the “General” tab.

Dont close out the emulator setup box youll need it for step 5.

Step 5: Click on the “Launch Setup” tab and in the “Launch Script Box” you should see a default script in here, highlight all the script text and delete.

Note: If you setup a new emulator instead of using the default PC emulator the “Launch Script”
box will be empty

In the blank “Launch Script” box copy this script to it:

@echo off

START "" "[STARTDIR]Launch\VPXSTARTER.exe" 5 10 60 "Pro Pinball"
START "" "[DIREMU]\steam.exe" -applaunch 287900

Popper Close Script

"[STARTDIR]LAUNCH\PUPCLOSER.EXE" WINTIT "Pro Pinball" 10 5 2

Note: If you created a new emulator add the default “Close Script” here(the second box under “Launch Script”):

"[STARTDIR]LAUNCH\PUPCLOSER.EXE" WINTIT "[CUSTOM1]" 10 1

Step 6: Click the green checkmark at the bottom of the page to save your changes and close out the emulator setup. Make sure you add the game to your system in the games manager and also put it in your playlist. Let me know how it works out for you. Enjoy!
